Quatre Heure: March 2022
I've been doing a lot of artist studies this month.
It's such a perfect way to warm up the creative juices without feeling the pressure to create something "share-worthy."
While you know I love social media (because connecting to humans from all over the world is very cool), but it puts us in a space of constant performance + feedback.
We don't always want that! I mean I almost never want that if I'm honest.
Artists and often those that identify as women, at least in my own experience, are sensitive beings and we don't want people to constantly critique every ounce of our work. It takes the fun out of it!
If you're feeling a little stuck in your head today, I encourage you to just get a random piece of paper out and start doodling--- a work, a line, and let it evolve from there with absolutely no outcome in mind.
Here's what's happenin' in my corner of the world...
What I'm reading:
Currently: Born a Crime, The Paper Palace (audio), Untethered Soul (audio)
Finished: The Authenticity Project, Me by Elton John (audio), Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult
For more book goodness from yours truly, hang out with me on Goodreads.
What I'm watching:
Now Watching: Billions (all caught up to season 6 now!), Guilded Age
Just Finished: Inventing Anna, The Great (season 2), Encanto
What I'm listening to:
Podcasts: Smartless, as usual. Loved this one with Sandra Bullock!
Music: Favorite studio jam right now is Queen, I want to break free!
Link I love:
- For the self studiers: loved this podcast episode about closing the stress cycle.
- For the artists: check out the one of my new favorite drawing supplies!
- For the local Chicagoans: I've been working at Guild Row a few times a week, really enjoying some new creative community access.
